Just What is Alpha?
You’ve heard about the Alpha Course, from a friend, a neighbor, from someone.
But what is it?
Is it about building friendships with people… or is it about great meals and interesting discussion . . . or is it really about answering perplexing questions?
|
Believe it or not, it’s all of the above.
And yet it’s far, far more. It’s about exploring the big questions of life. At the very least, it’s about finding a place where you can ask them, and connect with others who are asking and exploring too.
Of course, some of the biggest questions involve God: Is there a God? I’ve heard about God over the years- how much of what I’ve heard is true? What about all the other religions out there?
Alpha is an opportunity to explore these and other questions, and to consider what the historical person of Jesus might have to do with our lives today. Alpha is a series of talks that provide an opportunity for anyone to explore the Christian faith, and the meaning of life. It’s relaxed, non-threatening, low key, friendly, and fun.
Who is Alpha For?
Alpha is for everyone, especially: Those wanting to investigate Christianity; new Christians; newcomers to the church, and those who want on brush up on the basics.
What Others Are Saying About Alpha!
For as long as I can remember, through my childhood, teens, and
adult years, I have asked questions. One question I constantly
asked myself was “Do I believe in God?” I had no answer and it
bothered me...By the end of the third Alpha evening I had come to
a few realizations that were truly stunning for me...I knew that Jesus
died for me and that I could never ‘sit the fence’ again. —Jill
I have learned more in the space of a few weeks than I ever had in
years of attending church.—David
Everything Alpha gave me was so positive; it gave me the beginnings
of understanding what being a Christian means; it gave me
warm friendships and a sense of belonging...it gave me patience
and thoughtful answers to all my questions. —Sarah
Alpha is wonderful—life changing! Alpha answered and clarified all
the basics for me and put me on firm ground to travel forward on
my journey with God. —Mary
