Since 1996, the lake-area community has supported Lake Christian Ministries’ A Child’s Christmas, helping to provide warm clothing and gifts for the children registered there.
And although the COVID virus has brought chaos to our lives, it has not dampened the plans to celebrate this Christmas event. Perhaps now more than ever, we need to remember, nothing could stop the Love that was born on Christmas.
Volunteers from throughout the community have been helping to register the children at LCM. Others are coordinating Angel Trees in Bedford and Franklin Counties. Soon, dozens will begin shopping, sorting, bagging and distributing the gifts to the families for Christmas. From the beginning, Bethlehem UMC has been one of the most enthusiastic supporters of A Child’s Christmas.
This year we will be social distancing during many of these tasks and as a result the number of volunteers will be limited.
